CADAVRE EXQUIS

Description

After more than 350,000 albums sold in 3 years, +600 million streams, and hundreds of concerts across France, including the “main stage” slots at the biggest festivals, the group Therapie TAXI announced their split at the beginning of the year, announcing: one last EP, “Rupture 2 merde” (released in January 2021) and a farewell tour (sold out across France) which ended on October 8, 2021 after 3 packed Zenith de Paris shows. To the great delight of their fans, the group is reissuing all of its vinyl records, out of stock for several months: ‘Hit Sale Xtra Cheese’, ‘Cadavre Exquis’, ‘Rupture 2 merde’ and their first self-titled EP. ‘CADAVRE EXQUIS’ to evoke the fragmented writing of this album, throughout the tour; Adé, Raph and Renaud were no longer alone in the studio, since Ilan and Vincent, their musicians, have permanently joined the group. CADAVRE EXQUIS also for the oxymoron that recalls the name of the group, where opposites attract as in their lyrics that are both sweet and voracious. Visually, the group reclaims the art of the Renaissance. The cover is a mix of a coronation of the virgin combined with a Pietà version #accidentalrennaissance, (a popular hashtag in Anglo-Saxon countries where drunken-scene clichés are worthy of the finest paintings of this movement). On this new album, Therapie TAXI presents 16 tracks successively evoking love (Naïve, Candide Crush, Ombres Chinoises, YX), self-mockery (Egotrip, Immaculé, Dominer le bruit), the current world (Brutal Summer, L'équilibre, Madame Klaude) and their intimate relationship with others and with themselves (Disco lady, Vulgaire animaux, Tous les autres, Noir, Voyage, La boucle). Note the presence of Belgian rapper Isha, featured on the track “Noir,” and Phelto (approached by the group following her YouTube cover of the single “Hit Sale”) on “Voyage.” We find the raw lyrics, irresistible melodies and spontaneity that characterize the group, determined to drive the point home after the success of the first album, without compromise.
