After selling over 350,000 albums in 3 years, racking up more than 600 million streams, and performing hundreds of concerts across France, including headlining the biggest festivals, the band Therapie TAXI announced their breakup at the beginning of the year. They released a final EP, "Rupture 2 merde" (out in January 2021), and embarked on a farewell tour (sold out across France), which concluded on October 8, 2021, with three packed shows at the Paris Zenith.To the delight of their fans, the band is reissuing all their vinyl records, which have been out of stock for several months: 'Hit Sale Xtra Cheese', 'Cadavre Exquis', 'Rupture 2 merde', and their eponymous first EP.'CADAVRE EXQUIS' (Exquisite Corpse) refers to the fragmented songwriting process for this album, created during their tour; Adé, Raph, and Renaud were no longer alone in the studio, as Ilan and Vincent, their musicians, had permanently joined the band. CADAVRE EXQUIS also functions as an oxymoron that echoes the band's name, where opposites attract, as seen in their lyrics, which are both tender and fierce.Visually, the band reappropriates Renaissance art. The album cover is a blend of a coronation of the Virgin with a Pietà, in an #accidentalrenaissance style (a popular hashtag in Anglo-Saxon countries where photos of drunken scenes are compared to the best paintings of this movement).On this new album, Therapie TAXI presents 16 tracks successively exploring love (Naïve, Candide Crush, Ombres Chinoises, YX), self-deprecation (Egotrip, Immaculé, Dominer le bruit), the modern world (Brutal Summer, L'équilibre, Madame Klaude), and their intimate relationships with others and themselves (Disco lady, Vulgaire animaux, Tous les autres, Noir, Voyage, La boucle). Belgian rapper Isha is featured on the track "Noir," and Phelto (invited by the band after her YouTube cover of the single "Hit Sale") appears on "Voyage."The album features the raw lyrics, irresistible melodies, and spontaneity that characterize the band, determined to solidify their success after their first album, without compromise.
