PLAY: two jazz masters, an hour of total improvisation, a concentration of freedom. PLAY brings together for the first time two major figures in contemporary American jazz: trumpeter Theo Croker and pianist Sullivan Fortner. Friends for over 20 years, they sign their first co-led album here. After abandoning a first session deemed too academic, they returned to the studio without a pre-established plan: total creative freedom, between spontaneous improvisations and inspired musical dialogues. Recorded in just one hour, PLAY reflects the essence of their journey, mixing all the influences of African-American music, beyond genres.
