Maisha is the debut album from Zawose Queens, the first time women from Tanzania's renowned Zawose musical family have taken their rightful place as lead singers and performers. The resulting songs, born from patient songwriting, range from the sobriety of traditional sounds to a profusion of sounds treated with subtle electronic elements, rhythms and samples. "Maisha" is the first single from the upcoming album: the lyrics speak of the daily struggle for a better life, and the powerful sound, ranging from traditional to modern, features the Queens on lead vocals, illimba and percussion, with the Wamwiduka Band on backing vocals and percussion, and production including drums, synths and powerful bass.
