After a world tour of about a hundred dates to promote *Dreams*, their first album, the Berlin quartet THE WHITEST BOY ALIVE built a studio on a Mexican beach where they followed their own rule: record their hits in one take, live, without sequencing. Gone are the days when THE WHITEST BOY ALIVE started out as a dance/electro project! And yet, these sunny jam sessions resulted in *Rules*, an explosive analog cocktail of discoid pop/lounge with graceful songwriting by ERLEND OYE (KINGS OF CONVENIENCE) and dancefloor hooks held by DANIEL NENTWIG's keys (Fender Rhodes and Crumar) over a funky, simply effective combo (guitar, bass, drums). Somewhere between JAY JAY JOHANSON and ESG, *Rules* will undoubtedly illuminate your stereo with a boreal sun.
