«Afterlives» is in line with the previous album, even if it appears more coherent in its writing, more homogeneous. The work can be described as post-pop, a sort of more colorful post-rock where the more present vocals accompany less winding tracks. Musically, the Scots have also evolved, with influences now close to FLAMING LIPS, MAX RICHTER, THE COCTEAU TWINS, or even LAURIE ANDERSON.
