Oh inverted world

Description

Led by singer, leader, and songwriter James Mercer, the American band Shins references a few cult groups from the 60s and 70s. Notably Pink Floyd, particularly during the period when Syd Barrett was still active, the Beach Boys, and the Zombies. These finely literate influences are clearly evident in the writing of certain tracks, including "Weird Divide." Alongside the psychedelic swirls, there are also some catchy and memorable choruses, highlighted by guitars that embrace supersonic effects, which gives certain parts a somewhat raw garage feel, although it is the ballads that stand out, such as the magical "The Past And Pending" and the acoustic "New Slang."
