In 2017, Big Crown Records released a compilation of music by Sunny & The Sunliners titled Mr Brown Eyed Soul. Since then, the label has reissued three of his albums in their original format as well as five 45s. While the label team had been fans of Sunny Ozuna for a while, they did not anticipate the impact his music would have on the in-house artists. It was then decided that everyone at the label would cover a song by Sunny & The Sunliners to record a full album in tribute to the man himself. This new 45 is a taste of what is to come. The A-side is a cover of the classic "Smile Now, Cry Later" by The Shacks. Shannon Wise's sweet, whispered voice brings a whole new energy while keeping the laid-back, dreamy melody. Max Shrager's production certainly does justice to one of Sunny's greatest songs. Brainstory covers "Runaway." The darlings of Rialto, California, manage to transform this song into something that is their own. Tommy Brenneck's (Charles Bradley) production elevates the track into a modern classic that is sure to find its place in DJ sets alongside the timeless hits of the past.
