It’s Only Rock n’ Roll: The group’s 12th album, It’s Only Rolck’n’roll, was released in 1974, as the departure of prodigy Mick Taylor was confirmed. Produced by the duo Mick Jagger and Keith Richard, this album sends a strong message, opening with an energetic Slave. Black And Blue: Released in 1975, Black And Blue established itself as the album on which the Stones ventured even further toward a more groove-oriented sound, notably on the standout track Hot Stuff. In search of a new guitarist to replace Mick Taylor, Ron Wood joined the Stones and became the equal of the mythical Keith Richard following the recording of Black & Blue. Emotional Rescue: Released in 1980, Emotional Rescue was cautiously received by critics but nevertheless rose to the top of the charts in many countries such as the US, England and France. On this album, Ron Wood is definitively accepted into the tribe and becomes a full member. Between groove and Caribbean rhythms, Emotional Rescue ushers the Stones into a new era. Tattoo You: Released in 1981, Tatoo you has the particularity of having been driven by the band’s desire to embark on a huge North American tour. A large handful of existing tracks therefore benefited from mixing and rearrangements, forming this album, which enjoyed worldwide success and established itself as a Stones classic. Undercover: Released in 1982, Undercover highlights the differences in artistic viewpoints between the two leaders, Mick Jagger and Keith Richard. Keith wanted to return to a more traditional rock sound, while Mick wanted to continue the artistic exploration begun on Emotional Rescue and push the experience even further by incorporating decidedly 80s production. Dirty Work: Released in 1986, Dirty Work suffered from the increased tensions within the band, notably due to Mick Jagger’s decision to release his first solo album.
