The Prisoners are one of the most influential bands of the 1980s, an astonishing live act whose records were the antithesis of what pop radio demanded at the time. Raw, full of character, the polar opposite of the usual bland and conformist records. They barely sold a record and yet they can count on Noel Gallagher and political journalist John Harris as fans. In From The Cold is full of astonishing songs, from the harsh edges of All You Gotta Do Is Say, Ain't No Telling and The More That I Teach You, to the melancholic Wish The Rain and Be On Your Way. It's no surprise that Mojo journalist Lois Wilson described this album as the band's best.
