Founded in Glasgow in 1985, The Orchids are among the iconic bands of the legendary label Sarah Records, which they helped define the aesthetic between indie pop, jangle pop, and C86 influences. Under the Bridge brings together fourteen previously unreleased tracks recorded specifically for this collective project dedicated to the heirs of Sarah Records. The band delivers I Don't Mean to Stare, a new composition produced by their long-time collaborator Ian Carmichael, which foreshadows the album Dreaming Kind released a few months later. Also featuring The Wake, The Catenary Wires, The Luxembourg Signal, Even As We Speak, and Secret Shine, this compilation showcases the vitality of an indie pop scene that continues to keep the spirit of Sarah Records alive more than thirty years after its disappearance.
