Reissued in an expanded version, Lyceum marks the debut recording of The Orchids, an iconic band from the cult label Sarah Records. Hailing from Glasgow, the five musicians are part of the indie revival of the late 80s, reacting against the smooth and saturated production of the mid-decade. Their music, a blend of fragile post-punk, lo-fi romanticism, and bright melodies, evokes bands like The Go-Betweens or Television Personalities. Originally released in 1989 as a 10" with eight tracks, Lyceum is here enriched with their early EPs (I've Got a Habit, Underneath the Window...) and the 7" What Will We Do Next?, all remastered from the original tapes.
