The Mystery Lights return with their most ambitious project to date. With Wayne Gordon back in the production seat, the band delivers an eclectic mix of psychedelia, punk, art rock, and even a touch of country with the very pop "I'm Sorry I Forgot Your Name." The psychedelic highlights of the album, "Purgatory," "Cerebral Crack," and "Can't Sleep Through the Silence," are dark and trippy, sitting somewhere between the lysergic guitars of the 13th Floor Elevators and the deadpan punk madness of The Monks. But throughout the album, there is a cohesion woven by the remarkable musicianship, heartfelt lyrics, and attention to detail, making it a fiercely raw yet very catchy album, with everything that has made Mystery Lights one of the most exciting live bands on the scene.
