Adam Green and Kimya Dawson met at an open mic in Mount Kisco, New York, in the early 90s. They went on to record numerous songs at home with various friends under the name The Moldy Peaches, quickly becoming key figures in the New York anti-folk scene of the late 90s and early 2000s. After releasing several albums that achieved some success in the US and UK, the band broke through to a wider audience with their song "Anyone Else But You," featured in the hit indie film "Juno" (2007). *Origin Story: 1994-1999* is a compilation of songs, unreleased demos, live recordings, and poems tracing the beginnings of The Moldy Peaches and explaining the genesis of the band. The liner notes, written by Adam and Kimya, detail the story behind each track, and rare photos included in the set illustrate the duo's life during their youth.
