The Marshals have never let go of a precious idiom: the blues in its essence, whether it comes from Moulins or Jacksonville. The Marshals speak of real life, of those abandoned countrysides, of those small French towns, all of which have the blues. The trio makes the music resonate with masterful intensity, linking the Mississippi Delta and the Massif Central. The Marshals deliver a working-class blues, laborious, inspired by that of John Lee Hooker or Canned Heat. To record it, it was during a session at Le P'tit Cham, not far from Sancy, in the Parc des Volcans d'Auvergne, that The Marshals once again reconnected with the earth and cut themselves off from the world. They once again ploughed their blues into the granite rock. Small sharp shards fell from the mountain, forming nine rumbling tracks, made for the road, for those long hours when the mind gets lost in the landscapes, where the breath of the elements, between natural beauty and rural solitude, collides with the melancholy of passing time.
