The SOUL JAZZ label is releasing a new edition of the very rare jazz album Asha by THE LLOYD MCNEILL QUARTET! Flutist LLOYD MCNEILL, who recorded this album in Washington in 1969, is a multidisciplinary artist, known in particular for his painting talents, having been for years the great friend of Picasso, but also for his musical abilities, which he was able to demonstrate notably alongside Nina Simone, Nana Vasconceles, Ron Carter and Cecil McBee. In the 1960s, he was just as involved in the civil rights movement as in exciting travels, which would lead him to take an interest in and blend different genres of music.
