ATA Records is proud to present today a new album by The Lewis Express, entitled "Doo Ha!". Featuring flautist Chip Wickham and recorded on analog tape at All Things Analogue Studios in Leeds (UK), the band delivers on this new album a vibrant and lively tribute to the golden age of the soul-jazz sound — the electric alchemy of smoky clubs, Sunday afternoons at the record store, and the spiritual communion of groove and grit. Built around its rhythm section — Sam Hobbs on drums and label owner Neil Innes on bass — the group is here augmented by Sam Bell on congas and John Ellis on piano and Wurlitzer, and masterfully deploys a groove as elastic as it is dynamic. Chip Wickham's flutes add melodic phrasing and tones that are sometimes murmured or moaning, subtly evoking the sounds of the great voices of Soul across the eras. A true testament to ATA's deep conviction, "Doo Ha!" reminds us that music remains above all a matter of feeling rather than files.
