Issuing from the same groovy and transgressive neo-folk wave as FLEET FOXES, GRIZZLY BEAR, and BON IVER, THE LEISURE SOCIETY received an invitation from the leader of the KINKS, the great RAY DAVIES, to create the successor to "Into The Murky Water" (2011) in his personal studio. While maintaining the pop-baroque ingredients that have made them famous, positioning them as distant cousins of the BEATLES and the BEACH BOYS, the band explores new musical horizons on "Alone Aboard The Ark," using, for example, thick layers of vintage synthesizer for the first time. The result is stunning: While respecting the traditional pop verse-chorus structure, the British formation manages to inject something magical, something obvious, to give birth to a flamboyant album, a true soundtrack for the coming spring.
