You might have been wondering who that girl was, performing with Philippe Katerine in the 90s? That's Erin Moran aka A Girl Called Eddy, the New York songwriter exiled in London, with an eponymous album produced and recorded by Richard Hawley in Sheffield to her name. It was critically acclaimed upon its release in 2003, praised by Mojo magazine and by artists such as Robert Smith, Burt Bacharach, Jane Birkin, Nina Persson, Eric Carmen, and Tracey Thorn. Eddy also contributes backing vocals on Super Furry Animals and Ron Sexsmith records. Mehdi Zannad aka Fugu, the other half of the group, has four albums to his credit: "Fugu 1" in 2001, supported by Stereolab and Saint Etienne, "As Found" in 2005, produced by Tahiti 80, a soundtrack for "La France" in 2007 by director Serge Bozon, and "Fugue" in 2011, co-written in French with the latter. Erin and Mehdi began writing songs for The Last Detail in 2007, after exchanging messages on the late Myspace, with Mehdi being a fan of Erin and vice versa. A first session took them to Rouen in Tahiti 80's studio ("You're not Mine" is produced by the band), then to Paris, and finally to London in 2018. The cast is five-star: Julien Barbagallo (Tame Impala), Raphael Léger (Cléa Vincent) and Jean Thévenin (François & the Atlas Mountain) on drums, Olivier Marguerit (O, Syd Matters, Halo Maud, Chevalrex) on guitar, Didier Perrin (Christophe, Tanger) and Jean-Yves Lozac'h (Bertrand Belin) on bass, and the strings of the Skopje orchestra. On sound, Angy Laperdrix (Of Montreal), Frédéric Deces (Grand Blanc) and Julian Simmons (Guillemots).
