Description

The Intima led a chameleon-like existence from 1999 to 2004, confounding critics who struggled to describe their distinctive sound even as they shared stages with bands ranging from The Rapture to The Mekons. Hailing from Olympia and Portland, the post-punk quartet utilized sharp rhythms, prescient lyrics, and a collaborative songwriting approach to produce a sound both explosive and detailed, experimental, propulsive, and melodic. With a classically trained violinist, custom-tuned guitars that take bizarre angles, and an imaginative and powerful rhythm section, the band explored the intersection of art-punk and agit-pop with a spirit and tenor all their own. Peril and Panic was recorded in 2002 and released in 2003. Now, a fully remixed and remastered Peril and Panic is finally available, sounding much closer to what it was originally intended to be.
