In 2007, The Good, The Bad & The Queen - composed of Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon (The Clash), Simon Tong (The Verve) and Tony Allen (Fela Kuti) - came to life and released a self-titled critically acclaimed album, a surprising and magical record, drawing its inspiration from all corners of the planet. Eleven years later, the four storytellers are back with ""Merrie Land"", produced by Tony Visconti and the band itself. Recorded between London and Wales this year as the United Kingdom prepares to leave the European Union, this second album is a farewell letter filled with questions, a series of observations and reflections on Great Britain in 2018. Even though more than ten years have passed since the release of the first record, the moment could not be more opportune for a return: with ""Merrie Land"" the band continues to untangle optimism, disorientation and confusion, but in the atmosphere that prevails today.
