Life is an illusion, love is a dream

Description

Life is an illusion, love is a dream. The Eternal Youth has experienced its share of disillusions. “Nothing is ever over,” the Caen-based band’s second album, was released in June 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, between two lockdowns. The timing wasn't ideal, but the band was eager to show us their evolution. Various life circumstances prevented them from properly performing it live, but nothing is ever truly over, and so they are back, ready to fight. On "Life is an illusion, love is a dream," the change is perhaps less perceptible than before but even more profound, and it is now enduring. The Eternal Youth continues to blend its punk rock with touches of cold wave and post-punk, skillfully playing with these 80s English sounds, but now with modern and very polished production. All of this contributes to a solidity and maturity in the compositions, from the music to the lyrics, where Fra (guitar/vocals), despite being busy with his role in Burning Heads, nevertheless found the energy, desire, and inspiration to address more personal, intimate themes, in a kind of introspection. And rest assured, the quartet with eternal youth is far from having said its last word. In the meantime, without being fooled, let's live, love, and dream thanks to this violent yet gentle electric poetry, presented here in nine stanzas.
