An epic and conscious new project that inexplicably merges dub techno, grindcore, dreampop, and psychedelic hard dance in a way that shouldn’t work but ultimately disrupts the game rules in the best possible way. Born from the fractal inner world of Vymethoxy Redspiders, better known as Urocerus Gigas from the band Guttersnipe, a xeno-feminist energetic rock duo from Leeds, The Ephemeron Loop's debut album is a synesthetic acid bath that opens the doors of perception to reveal a soundscape of ineffable beauty, divine femininity, and continuous transformation. Psychonautic Escapism elevates the spacegrind and grinding aesthetic of Guttersnipe by leaving behind dream pop ambient layers, dilated speedcore grenades, and shifting psychedelic dub effects. It’s an album that sits between Cocteau Twins, Arca, Basic Channel, and Napalm Death, oscillating imperceptibly between seemingly contradictory sounds and philosophies. Vymethoxy spent 14 long and difficult years writing the album, which developed cautiously as she emerged from the suffering of her pre-transition life through shoegaze music, raves, and psychedelic drugs in the queer underground of Leeds. A languishing existence in negativity, punctuated by extreme music, has been replaced by the opportunity to experience euphoria, exhilaration, and ecstatic freedom, emotions that sensually unite on Psychonautic Escapism. These formative experiences are the foundational elements of the album, assembled between 2007 and 2018 as Vymethoxy confronted her reality as an autistic trans woman and the multidimensional psychotropic experiences that helped her realize this reality.
