Description

Hailing from the South-West of France, The Deweys is a variable geometry trio that operates according to encounters and invitations. Influenced by American music, folk, blues, and country, the band has built its identity and etched the names of its heroes, from Johnny Cash to Nick Cave, from Calexico to R.L. Burnside. With Windwalker, The Deweys have explored the cinematic side of their universe by inviting a string quartet and a percussionist gathered within a temporary orchestra, The Black Cat Orchestra, fully dedicated to the songs of the album. The result is a very particular atmosphere, with an opening that pays tribute to Ennio Morricone (El Caminito Del Rey) and a conclusion that feels like it’s taken from a musical (the duo The Gaslamp Memories). In between, one will find minimalist folk, psychedelic and Floydian blues, or a heart-wrenching ballad... If a soundtrack were needed for a journey, whether internal or not, Windwalker would be the perfect companion.
