Born in the wake of the famous improvised sessions organized by Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser in the mid-1970s, Sci Fi Party continues the adventure of the Cosmic Jokers, a collective that included Manuel Göttsching and Hartmut Enke (Ash Ra Tempel), Jürgen Dollase and Harald Großkopf (Wallenstein), as well as Klaus Schulze. Built around long hypnotic sequences where synthesizers, electric guitars, organs, and percussion evolve freely, the album unfolds a cosmic atmosphere characteristic of the Berlin scene of the time. Long surrounded by a notorious reputation due to its recording and release conditions, Sci Fi Party reflects a period when collective experimentation took precedence over the traditional song form. This reissue allows for a rediscovery of one of the most unique chapters of Krautrock, blending improvisation, psychedelic rock, and emerging electronic music.
