ROCK & ROLL LIVE FROM KENTUCKY The great state of Kentucky is world-renowned for its horses, its bluegrass music, and its Bourbon, but less so for its visceral rock and roll. The Cold Stares are determined to change that perception. Chris Tapp and Brian Mullins have known each other for a very, very long time. They grew up in western Kentucky, a stone’s throw from the Indiana border, attending different high schools just minutes from each other. They started playing together at that time. This band is an intense amalgamation of Led Zeppelin meets Free, Soundgarden meets Black Crowes; the magic of rock and roll where the riffs are tough, the vocals burning. Most of the album was recorded in a single day at Sam Phillips' legendary recording studio in Memphis. "Heavy Shoes" is The Cold Stares’ best record to date, and they know it. It took a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and self-doubt before Chris Tapp and Brian Mullins reached this moment. "We've been through hard times, and I'd say our band is a pretty good representation of craftsmen. Hard-working people. We're just a blue-collar American rock and roll band."
