Cannonball Adderley Quintet In Chicago

Description

Alto saxophonist Cannonball Adderley met and collaborated with some of the greatest jazz musicians in history. From Kenny Clarke to his brother Nat Adderley, he was notably a member of Miles Davis' legendary sextet (Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb). Released in 1959, ‘Cannonball Quintet in Chicago’ was recorded in February of the same year at Universal Recording Studio B in Chicago. The quintet's musicians were part of a large sextet from Miles Davis' "1959 Sessions." In March, the same musicians would record ‘Kind of Blue’ with Miles Davis. One can thus appreciate the presence of these giants on the album and enjoy the dynamic between Coltrane and Adderley. Discover this classic, reissued and mastered from the original tapes, benefiting from Verve's audiophile techniques.
