The legendary psychedelic afro soul group, The Budos Band, is back with a sixth studio album, Long In The Tooth, still on Daptone Records. This new album marks the twentieth anniversary since the band's formation and the fifteen years since their self-titled debut album in 2005. The first single, which shares its name with the album, sounds like the soundtrack to a James Bond film directed by Quentin Tarantino. The listener is locked into an unshakeable groove, between percussion and rolling brass, while the guitar riff snakes along the organ. Long In The Tooth was recorded in just five days at Diamond Mine Studio in Queens, New York. The band still consists of Brian Profilio (drums), Daniel Foder (bass), Tom Brenneck (guitar), Mike Deller (organ), Jared Tankel (saxophone), Andrew Greene (trumpet), Dave Guy (trumpet), and Rob Lombardo (bongos, congas). The lineup maintains its unique touch thanks to its timeless style. The band received critical acclaim in 2019 with their album V. Their music has been sampled by Panic! At The Disco, Black Eyed Peas, and Earthgang, among others. Notable fans include Madonna, rock star Iggy Pop, and the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. The New York afro-soul collective celebrates its 15th anniversary and continues to write its legend with a sixth epic instrumental album blending ethio-funk groove and Sabbath-esque psychedelia!
