The Canadians of The Band, then known at that time as "The Hawks," went through the first part of the 60s in the intimacy of rather local concerts. The meeting of guitarist Robbie Robertson with a Bob Dylan, eager to steer his new compositions towards more rock sounds, was decisive for the group, which from 1966 would accompany the boss of Folk on stage. After a first album released in 1968, which received critical acclaim but did not reach the top of the charts, The Band released in 1969 what would remain as one of the cornerstones of a scene eager to combine Folk, Country, and Rock.
