Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel and Rick Danko formed The Band in the late fifties. The group was then called The Hawks. Renowned for having founded the “Americana” style, The Band accompanied Bob Dylan many times from 1965 to 1974. Music From the Big Pink, their first album, explores all American popular music (country, blues, R&B, gospel, soul, rockabilly, brass band, folk, rock ’n’ roll, etc.) in a masterful way. It includes the classics: The Weight, Tears of Rage, Long Black Veil and To Kingdom Come.
