The Alan Parsons Project is a progressive rock band consisting of engineer and producer Alan Parsons and songwriter and musician Eric Woolfson. Between 1976 and 1987, they released 10 concept albums, selling over 55 million albums worldwide. Their third studio album, "Pyramid," was released in May 1978. It is a concept album centered on the pyramids of Giza. At the time this album was conceived, interest in pyramids and the so-called power of pyramids was all the rage. You could find a pyramid on the back of a dollar bill, there were newspaper articles about the supposed magical properties of pyramids, and, of course, the cover of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon." As with other APP albums, the focus was on very high-quality sound production, and the album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. Various vocalists participated, including John Miles, Colin Blunstone, Lenny Zakatek, David Paton, Jack Harris, and Dean Ford. Additionally, a selection of session musicians such as guitarist Ian Bairnson and drummer Stuart Elliott, as well as arrangements by Andrew Powell, were used. The album was a global success, selling over two million copies and achieving platinum and gold status in many countries, including the United States, Germany, and Canada. The re-release of this legendary album, offered today by Cooking Vinyl, was fully remastered in 2024 at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell. The CD includes 4 bonus tracks in unreleased versions, as well as a special 12-page booklet. The 180g vinyl re-release was also produced with the utmost care, benefiting from exceptional remastering using the Halfspeed Master techniques developed by Abbey Road Studios.
