TH Da Freak's best joke is probably this one: announcing a surprise album for April 1, 2022, and then actually releasing it a year later. Indie Rock was recorded solo by Thoineau during the sessions for the album Coyote (Howlin' Banana / Flippin' Freaks, 2022). This album is part of what the musician calls his "parallel discography," and once again reflects his need to create and offer music without stakes or ulterior motives, with as much good humor and fun as an April Fool's joke. Released quietly in digital format only on April 1, 2022, Indie Rock was accessible for just 48 hours. This gem of 90's indie rock deserved a beautiful vinyl release. It finally arrives, thanks to a wonderful crush: that of the brand new Bordeaux label Les Disques du Paradis, which has chosen to inaugurate its catalog with Indie Rock. Loyal partners in Thoineau's journey, Flippin' Freaks and Howlin' Banana also support this release. Like the previous Infandous (2017) or TH Sides (2018), the aptly named Indie Rock emphasizes spontaneity, perfect yet carefree melodies, impressionistic ballads, and flea market pop songs. Much like some albums by Jad Fair or Guided By Voices, Indie Rock resembles a messy room: where you can find everything, especially discoveries to be made and real good surprises in store.
