MALK and Henry (from Mahatma X), accompanied by their loyal associate Dairian Smith. The name of the project is not satirical but refers to a real group of geese living on the lawn of the AstraZeneca campus in Wilmington, Delaware — a familiar sight for Henry during his regular commutes between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Ignoring the gray, corporate expanse of the area, these birds have become a strange yet valuable source of inspiration for the group's offbeat musical vision. TGAAZ at AZZ, their debut album, started as a three-hour improvised jam, recorded with a single microphone in a warehouse living room in Philadelphia. MALK then dissected, manipulated, and reassembled this raw session into thirteen twisted fragments. The result is an abrasive and hyperactive mix of free jazz, instrumental hip-hop, and punk collage, both disorienting, funny, and raw — a irreverent approach to beat tapes, constantly oscillating between chaos and control.
