January 2001, after struggling for a few months in Paris after leaving Lorraine, Tété immediately established himself, despite this modest title, as a major artist on the French scene with a world already very much his own. Alternately serious (Le meilleur des mondes), mocking (Dodeline), profound (Le bonheur), full of self-deprecation (L'air de rien), Tété’s songs get inside your head with their instant melodies like few know how to compose... Tété already had that percussive yet subtle acoustic guitar playing, instantly recognizable (that’s called style), and a vocal technique that allows him to ride his melodic ideas with rare virtuosity. For this first attempt, a masterstroke, Tété was already a singular artist: you can hear echoes of the Beatles (and even a cover of Eleonor Rigby), some distant traces of Jimi Hendrix, touches of blues, and an infectious energy that boosts the “French scene” of the 2000s.
