In the second season of Documentary Now! on IFC, the episode "Test Pattern - Final Transmission" parodied and paid homage to Jonathan Demme's Stop Making Sense, a Talking Heads concert film. To match the original episode, the filmmakers staged a Test Pattern concert in San Gabriel, California. Actors and comedians Fred Armisen and Bill Hader formed a band that, on stage, tells the chronological story of Test Pattern, with band members joining in as the songs progress. It begins with Fred Armisen and his guitar on "This Is My Street," they continue as a trio with Bill Hader on bass and Jon Wurster on drums on "Art+ Student = Poor," then are joined by Jon Spurney on keyboards and Maya Rudolph on vocals and synth. The last song, "Everybody's Moving Around," sung and co-written by Bill Hader, is presented as a song from an album not sung by the lead singer. The show had invited its audience to attend the concert dressed in 80s style to remain true to the aesthetic of the era to the very end.
