Description

Japanese jazz musicians cannot really be said to enjoy (rather unjustly, by the way) immense international fame. However, trumpeter Terumasa Hino stands out as an exception, undoubtedly because he collaborated with many American musicians as early as the 1970s: Gary Burton, Roy Haynes, Herbie Hancock… On Into the Heaven, released in 1970, Terumasa Hino is joined by the same musicians as on Hi-Nology, which came out a year earlier: his brother Motohiko Hino on drums, Hiromasa Suzuki on electric piano, Kunimitsu Inaba on electric bass, and Takeru Muraoka on tenor saxophone. The title track, which lasts over 20 minutes, is a fusion jazz piece that showcases the solos and is reminiscent of the music Miles Davis was producing at the time, during what would be called his electric period. The B-side opens with "Love More Train," a beautiful and lengthy hard bop track, while the album closes melancholically with the peaceful "Feeling blues as you are feel." Gatefold cover.
