The long-awaited project from producer, drummer, composer, conductor, and activist Terri Lyne Carrington, one of the most respected artists in jazz. Galvanized by the brutal changes in the social and political landscape, Grammy-winning drummer, producer, activist, and educator Terri Lyne Carrington formed her new group, accompanied by Social Science, to address a wide range of issues related to social justice. The group's first and magnificent double album immediately places them alongside the most ambitious and inventive projects of Terri Lyne Carrington. It expresses an inclusive and compassionate vision of the ties that bind humanity, all through an eclectic program blending jazz, R&B, classic rock and indie, free improvisation, hip-hop, and contemporary classical music. One of the most important musicians, producers, and activists in jazz and R&B music, Carrington graced the cover of Downbeat on February 19 for her advocacy for women in jazz and her new Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice at the Berklee College of Music. Social Science is made up of a new generation of respected contemporary jazz artists - rapper/DJ Kassa Overall, pianist Aaron Parks, guitarist Matt Stevens, singer Debo Ray, and multi-instrumentalist Morgan Guerin.
