Description

Incredible how time flies! It was 30 years ago to the day, a fantastic year for British melodic rock (AOR) with the release of Ten's first album (followed six months later by "Name Of The Rose"). Not only did the album receive rave reviews worldwide, but it sold 60,000 copies in Japan alone; the Japanese undoubtedly know and appreciate good old hard rock! What few people know is that originally, the Ten project was simply a solo project by Gary Hughes, following the very first release from the Now & Then Records label, his self-titled debut solo album. The idea was to record two albums: an album of rock tracks and an album of ballads. However, after the arrival of former Dare musicians Vinny Burns (guitar), Greg Morgan (drums), and Nick "Shelley" Shelton (bass) to finalize the recordings, it quickly became evident that a certain magic was at work. So, once both albums were completed and after a meeting between all parties involved, it was decided to mix the recordings and release two albums by the band, six months apart. That is how Ten came to be. Knowing this, it is quite amusing to read all those reviews claiming that Ten toughened up its style on its second album, "Name Of The Rose". For the 30th anniversary of this truly exceptional debut album, we are therefore delighted to announce its very first vinyl release.
