In just 7 years, the Franco-Lebanese duo TELEFERIK has already performed on numerous stages worldwide. Their first album, Lune Electric (2015), even earned the band a nomination for the OUI FM Rock Awards 2016 and a spot on the compilation. Today, TELEFERIK releases their second album, Blood Orange Sirup, a symbol that alone evokes both East and West. Mastered in Los Angeles, produced and mixed by Azzedine Djelil (Catherine Ringer, Minuit), it features the sounds of Dabkeh keyboardists Rizan Said and Kenzi Bourras (Acid Arab, Rachid Taha). The album opens with Aloulé, a track with 70s rock accents, sung in Lebanese. Khalina N’Shouf is a pop rock song that encourages the listener to see through everyone's heart, to find the desire to be freely oneself. Just A Woman is a track with hip hop and blues grooves in which Eliz sings about the injunctions and contradictions women face. Believe is an energetic rock song, balancing a fair mix of dabkeh rhythms and rock. De L’autre Côté, rock and ethnic, feverish and urgent, is a song inspired by the migration crisis. Hell In Your Arms sings of Sapphic and passionate love, set to rock guitar riffs and keyboards typical of Kurdish dabkeh. So Many Lovers is a tribute to forbidden and clandestine loves, with 90s rock inspirations. You Are Poetry is an anthem to life and the creativity that lies dormant within each of us. Cheveux Denses mixes a Dance keyboard and punk riffs, sung in French. Sarr Lezim was written during Lebanon's ecological and garbage crisis and accuses modern societies of forgetting the needs of their citizens. Queen Of The Harem is a sensual blues song that expresses anger at the social inequalities faced by immigrant women. The Night closes the album with a rock and folk song, Rizan's oud-like keyboard almost reminiscent of the Celtic bagpipe. Between Arno on electric guitar and Eliz on vocals and bass, TELEFERIK brings us in several languages (Arabic, English, and French) a uniquely rich and captivating blend of musical influences.
