A fertile trio between a Polish violinist, a Dutch pianist and a Parisian cellist Different countries. Different musical heritages. And the instrumentation of the classical piano trio. The title track “Clouds” sets a thoughtful, personal and intimate tone from the very beginning. Adam Baldych, Rogier Telderman and Vincent Courtois have together created an album of remarkable emotional depth, with a touch of melancholy, but one that carries the momentum of hope and renewal. “When we were in the studios of La Buissonne, in the south of France, says Baldych, we got into the mood. We all wanted to make deep, generous, inventive music” This equal trio came into being in February 2018, when the director of the first “Sound of Europe” festival in Breda gave Telderman carte blanche to form a new ensemble. The pianist chose to invite Baldych and Courtois. “It was almost obvious from the start,” recalls the pianist. After their first concert, it was clear that each member of the trio was saying to themselves “we should do this more often”. And then, as they began to play together, respect, mutual listening as well as the desire to experiment grew. Here is the inspired work born of this beautiful European encounter.
