After building their sound through the meticulous assembly of countless shards of Japanese folk, psychedelia, Brazilian surf rock, and other distant touchstones, the Montreal-based seven-member band has indulged in floating experimentation on the road and learned from it. With the release of their second album, Hagata, in June 2023, TEKE ::TEKE has fully moved into the in-between space, embracing the power of mythical pairs and lived identities simultaneously. Combining muscular intensity with moments of cloudy meditation – like a world-class high jumper finding joy at the peak of their jump – the band crafts expressive compositions with a royal flute, rich brass, ecstatic guitar, and a punchy rhythm section. By revisiting Hagata with the release of Hagata Delux (digital only) and its companion LP, simply titled Delux, TEKE ::TEKE has expanded its overall vision, including the brand new song "Meimu" as well as remixes and reinterpretations of Hagata tracks by SUUNS and Holy Fuck, along with the addition of a collection of Hagata-era tracks available together on vinyl for the first time!
