Taylor Hollingsworth, originally from Birmingham, Alabama, has always resisted labels. Folk, blues, rock'n'roll — nothing really stuck. He ended up inventing his own formula: "Folk n' Roll," which gives its title to his new album. Fans of JJ Cale, Mississippi John Hurt, Chuck Berry, Richard Thompson, or John Prine will find their satisfaction. After years of touring with his punk-tinged band and a notable stint as a guitarist alongside Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, the birth of his daughter led him to take a break and fully dedicate himself to his family and his local scene in Birmingham. It is there that he perfected his solo show: fingerpicked electric guitar, amplified stomp box to keep the rhythm, looper pedal to layer solos, and storytelling lyrics that Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers (Better Oblivion Community Center) have embraced. Folk n' Roll is his second LP for the indie label Dial Back Sound, after Yahola, critically acclaimed in 2025.
