In 2019, the recording of the last three Piano Concertos by Camille Saint-Saëns by Alexandre and Jean-Jacques Kantorow received praise from critics around the world, including a Diapason d’or of the year, an Editor’s Choice from Gramophone, as well as the highest ratings from the main German sites Klassik Heute and Klassik.com. Back in Helsinki, they recorded with the Tapiola Sinfonietta not only the first two Concertos by Saint-Saëns but also all the other works for piano and orchestra.
In 2019, Alexandre Kantorow was the first French pianist to receive the gold medal at the prestigious Tchaikovsky competition, as well as the Grand Prix, which has been awarded only three times in the entire history of the competition. Praised by critics as "the young tsar of the piano" (Classica) and "the embodiment of Liszt" (Fanfare), Kantorow started playing the piano at a very young age. At just sixteen, he was invited to perform with the Sinfonia Varsovia at the Folle Journée in Nantes and in Warsaw. He has since played with many orchestras, most often with Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra.
