In late 2007, TAMIKREST made contact with Manny Ansar, director of the now world-renowned Festival au Désert, and landed a gig. In the silky dunes of Essakane, they met DIRTMUSIC, the rock'n'roll veterans CHRIS ECKMAN, HUGO RACE, and CHRIS BROKAW. It was one of those encounters shaped by destiny. Once again, music transcended all barriers of language, culture, style, shyness, and reluctance. The friendship formed in Essakane grew stronger in the following months, leading to an invitation to come to Bamako, the Malian capital, to record their first album and also contribute to the recording of DIRTMUSIC's album. After another epic 1800 km journey by car and bus, Ousmane, Aghaly, and his team entered a professional studio for the first time, and 'Adagh' was born.
