Description

Hiromasa Suzuki is a Japanese pianist who began his recording career in the early 1970s. Nicknamed 'Colgen' in Japan, he is known for two superb albums blending jazz-fusion and traditional Japanese instruments (Rock-Joint Biwa and Rock Joint Cipher on the RCA label), jazz-funk oriented albums (High-Flying, Skip Step Colgen), and the famous album by the group Electro Keyboard Orchestra, of which he is a member alongside other illustrious Japanese pianists such as Yuji Ohno and Hideo Ichikawa. But Hiromasa Suzuki also took an interest in more classic jazz. In 1978, he released a superb modal jazz album on the Union Primrose label, accompanied by Nobuyoshi Ino on bass and Steve Jackson on drums. Completely unavailable even in Japan, Primrose is being reissued for the first time on vinyl by Très Jazz Club. This is an opportunity to discover incredible compositions such as "Hornet," "Dis-charge," and "Early Summer."
