Description
The singer Susanne Abbuehl has a decidedly unique way of seizing words. Recorded in the south of France last summer, The Gift beautifully synthesizes all the qualities of this singular approach to vocal art. This album features poems by Emily Dickinson, Emily Bronté, Sara Teasdale, and Wallace Stevens, as well as texts written by Susanne herself. While Wolfert Brederode remains an essential presence by her side, Abbuehl has integrated since 2009 into her new orchestra the bugler Matthieu Michel, extraordinary in inventiveness and sensitivity in his role as a second melodic voice, as well as the drummer Olavi Louhivouri, whose delicate playing has already delighted Tomasz Stanko in his ECM album Dark Eyes.Buy The gift at the best price
