Andi Haberl's first solo album under the name Sun is somewhat dedicated to a house. It is a journey leading to that hill overlooking everything that made him. It is not about nostalgia, nor about returning to a specific place. Instead, it is about finding a personal frequency, a layering of sounds and samples, an open space that reflects and extends all the frequencies felt at different moments in time. "For me, the results feel like Gold Panda/Four Tet meets Steve Reich. Krautrock meets film music. I just really wanted to create atmospheres that touch me – and ideally others too." Speaking about his first solo album, Haberl mentions many stages: the early compositions that ended up on Alien Ensemble albums, the first DIY/home studio/multi-instrumentalist inspirations (Le Mille-pattes), the new technologies that came and went, and even a set of extremely compelling compositions, arrangements (made with the crucial contribution of Cico Beck) that ultimately became springboards for another series of DIY takes.
