An unreleased recording of Sun Ra and his Arkestra captured in Baltimore in 1978!Available for the very first time, the legendary icon Sun Ra and his Arkestra present Lights On A Satellite: Live at the Left Bank, recorded on July 23, 1978 at the Famous Ballroom in Baltimore, Maryland, by the Left Bank Jazz Society. It is presented on CD and as a limited edition 2 LP box set, pressed on 180g vinyl, containing recordings from the Sun Ra archives, researched and compiled by archivist Michael D. Anderson. Mastering was done by engineer Joe Lizzi and lacquer cutting was performed by Matthew Lutthans at the Mastering Lab. Critically acclaimed independent filmmaker Robert Mugge also provided audio recordings he made at the Left Bank, featured in his 1980 film Sun Ra: A Joyful Noise.The deluxe box set includes liner notes written by veteran music critic J.D. Considine, as well as interviews with centenarian Arkestra saxophonist Marshall Allen, saxophonist Gary Bartz, and pianist Craig Taborn.As always with the Resonance label, the editorial quality is magnificent.
