The planets align in October with the new album from Sun Ra Arkestra under the direction of maestro Marshall Allen. The first studio album from Sun Ra Arkestra in over twenty years since A Song For The Sun in 1999. Recorded at Rittenhouse Soundworks in Philadelphia, this album represents the continuation of a sincere renaissance of the Arkestra under Allen's direction since Sun Ra left the planet in 1993, winning over new generations of followers through their regular tours around the world. The group includes longtime Arkestra members, including Danny Ray Thompson (RIP) and Michael Ray, Vincent Chancey, Knoel Scott, Cecil Brooks, Atakatune (RIP), Elson Nascimento and Tyler Mitchell. It is a true celebration of Sun Ra's legacy. The tracks include new arrangements of Arkestra staples "Angels And Demons At Play", "Satellites Are Spinning", "Door Of The Cosmos" and "Rocket No. 9" alongside lesser-known gems; "Darkness" is recorded here for the first time, resurrected from the Ra archives by Marshall Allen. Other highlights include an epic version of "Seductive Fantasy" (first recorded on "On Jupiter" in 1979), the free sound explosion of "Infinity / I'll Wait For You" and a very first recording of Marshall Allen's swing composition, "Swirling".
