Underclass hero

Description

After All Killer No Filler in 2001, Does This Look Infected in 2002, and Chuck in 2004, which sold over 7 million copies worldwide, Deryck Whibley and his band SUM 41, separated from their guitarist Dave Brownsound, return in great shape for a particularly bold, personal, committed, and self-produced punk rock album by Deryck Whibley himself... For this new album, Whibley had to dive into his deepest intimacy and compose songs that are much more personal than his previous ones, taking as themes, for example, his absent father (Dear Father and Walking Disaster), Dave leaving the band (So Long Goodbye), or his inner demons (Speak of the Devil and Count Your Last Blessings). In continuity with the more political songs (Still Waiting from Does This Look Infected and We're All to Blame from Chuck), there are scathing condemnations of the current government, such as Confusion and Frustration in Modern Times, March of the Dogs, and The Jester, the latter two being particularly critical of Bush. Sum 41 still performs a unique blend of raucous punk rock and thunderous heavy metal. The first single, Underclass Hero, is a true rallying cry fueled by all the punk energy and enriched with rap rhythms in the style of previous hits like Fat Lip. The launch is already strong in the US market, with the single already in the top 30 on US rock radio in the first week of release. In France, SUM 41 came to promote the album on May 22 and 23, and the media feedback has been more than flattering. On July 7, the band will be the second headliner of the Solidays festival at the Longchamp racecourse, and a tour is planned for the fall.
