Description
The Age of Adz (pronounced Odds) is Sufjan Stevens' new collection of original songs since Illinois (2005). This time, there's no central concept behind the compositions, and for the first time, the sounds used are electronic. While these sounds are rather artificial, with drum machines and analog synthesizers, the content of the songs is visceral, sung in a clear voice with insistent orchestration. The result is surely the most emotional, primal, and explicit work Sufjan has produced since his debut. It's personal and "primal," with a teenage edge.
